Thankfully only five holes made this list of bleakest openers.  The designers have done a remarkable job creating compelling courses.  Incredible layouts full of tantalizing topography and breath-taking beauty.  Or almost so.  A handful of opening shots that are so bleak in comparison, they look like were mistakes.  Good news is there are only 5 on the over 40 courses!  Bad news is that you have to get through them to get to the real fun.  Here are my five bleakest:
